Leroy Eugene Booth

LeRoy Eugene Booth, the son of James and Charlotte McFadden Booth was born on April 11, 1942, in Cherokee, IA. He received his early education there and then moving to Spencer, where he finished and graduated from high school. On May 31, 1962, LeRoy entered into the military, serving in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged on April 29, 1963. On March 10, 1970, LeRoy married Arose Lau in Cherokee, IA. Following their marriage, LeRoy was a truckdriver for 20 years for Navaho Trucking. They moved to Spencer where he was a meat cutter for Spencer Pack for about 8 years and then in his later years he helped the City of Spencer taking care of the parks. In his retirement, LeRoy enjoyed redoing furniture, gardening, playing games, writing poetry and telling long stories. He also loved to spend time joking around with his family, especially his grandchildren. LeRoy passed away on May 1, 2013 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Tammy at 18 months and three brothers: Emery (Jack), Cliff and Jim. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Arose; two sons: Sean and his wife, Dawn and Brian and his wife, Ricci all of Spencer; one daughter, Kimberly Hovland and her husband, Dave of Sioux City, IA; nine grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Sunkenburg of Mesa, AZ; sister-in-law, Gladys Booth of Grinnell, IA; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, May 7, at Day Spring Assembly of God Church in Spencer. There will be a Flag Presentation following the service by the Ameican Legion - Glen Pedersen Post #1 of Spencer.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M., Monday evening at the Warner Funeral Home.
