Les Hintz

Leslie Boyd Hintz, the son of Manville and Nora (Larson) Hintz, was born June 8, 1938 in Kiester, MN. His childhood years were spent in Spencer, where he receive his education, graduating from Spencer High School. Les earned a football scholarship and attended Lancaster College in California for 1� years. Les entered the U.S. Army in 1958 and served with the 529th Military Police Company as an Honor Guard and M.P. stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1962. On April 19, 1965, Les married Mary Valdahl. To this union three children were born: Jim, Barb & Kim. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer for many years, where he worked at Sears and later owned the Trianon Skating Rink before moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1986. Mary passed away in 1990. Les married Debra Goertz on November 28, 1992 in Creston, NE. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Creston, where he worked for Nebraska Appliance Center in Norfolk for 21 years. He was raised as a Lutheran and was a past member of a Lutheran church in Spencer. He passed away at the VA Hospital in Omaha, NE following a long illness on Monday, August 20, 2012 at the age of 74. Les was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary on July 1, 1990; his brother, Roger; his sister, Annette; a granddaughter, Hope and a great grandson, Parker. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Deb of Creston, NE; one son, James (Kim) Hintz of Des Moines, IA; two daughters: Barb (Gene) Olson of Sioux Falls, SD and Kim Thompson and her fianc�, Jason of Humboldt, SD; two stepdaughters: Jessica Claypole & Amanda Palmer (Lonnie); his grandchildren: Lacey, Brandon, Alexandra, Samantha, Caitlyn, Christopher, September & James; his great grandchildren: Keigan, Addisyn and Ayden; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.

INTERMENT
Riverside Cemetery Spencer, Iowa Military services will be conducted by American Legion Glen Pedersen Post #1 of Spencer at the graveside.
