Leslie Jensen

Leslie Irving Jensen, the son of Jens Hansen and Christine (Thompson) Jensen, was born on February 7, 1925 in Royal Iowa. He was raised and received his early education in Royal, graduating from high school in 1942. Following high school, he entered into the military on January 14, 1946, serving in the U.S Army. He was honorably discharged on September 18, 1947. On August 4, 1946, Leslie married Elna Roberts in Spencer, Iowa. The couple resided in the Royal community where he farmed for many years. Leslie enjoyed reading, working on making model airplanes and kites. Leslie was one of the guys who could fix just about anything. He also trained and received his private pilot's license on June 25, 1983. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. He served on the council, building committee and was a Sunday School teacher. Leslie was a loving husband, father and was very proud of his grandchildren, their spouses and his great grandchildren. Leslie passed away on March 17, 2012, after a short stay at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, IA, at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold A. Jensen and his wife, Eunice and a brother-in-law, Arlan Roberts. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Elna Jensen; son, Larry and his wife, Dianne of Coon Rapids, IA; daughter, Beverly Winter and her husband, Bob of Spearfish, SD; grandchildren: Chris and his wife, Angie, Nicholas and Erik Jensen of Indianola, IA and Kerry and her husband, Marc, Emma and Ian Stok of Burnsville, MN; sister-in-law, Myrle Roberts of Royal, IA; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
