Lewis Henry Petersen, the son of Lewis S. and Mabel Peterson, was born on July 29th, 1935 in Spencer, Iowa. His family owned a farm by Royal, Iowa, where he would help raise cattle and various other animals. Lewis had four sisters, but his sister, Fern, passed away at a young age. Lewis joined the army on February 10th 1958, and was a medical corpsman during the Korean War for 6 years. As his father’s health declined, Lewis returned home to help his mother with their family farm. He was a cattle herdsman for most of his life and always enjoyed being with animals.
He welcomed 3 beautiful children; 2 daughters, Lori and Stacie and a son, Chad, whom he enjoyed raising and loved dearly. On August 17th 1997, he married Patricia Otto of Windom, MN. They shared a passion for traveling all around, but Lewis loved to visit Duluth, MN the most. The couple made their home in Worthington, MN, but later relocated to Spencer, Iowa to be closer to family. There, they became devoted members of the Foundation Church and spent their free time attending bible studies and Sunday services. When he wasn’t taking part in church activities, he loved feeding birds on his patio with his dog and watching Westerns, Steven Segal, and James Bond movies.
Lewis was called to be with the Lord on Thursday June 25th 2020, at his home at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings: Leta, Garnet, and Fern.
Left to cherish his wonderful memory is his wife, Patricia; his sister Ruby of Nickerson, NE; his son, Chad, and daughters Lori and Stacie, of Fremont, NE; his step-son Thomas Bjorklund of Sabastian, Florida; his step-daughter Teresa Andersen of Emmetsburg, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; and his Foundation Church family.
