Lewis Leroy Clark of Spencer, Iowa

AKA Lord Lewis

Lewis passed away peacefully in the Spencer Hospital on Jan 7, 2022. Lewis was 61 years young.

Lewis Leroy Clark was born on July 10, 1960 to Janite Coatney Clark and Derrell Clark in Centerville, Iowa. Lewis attended school at South Clay and Spencer, IA. Lewis spent his working years in construction or working on farms/ranches. Lewis also spent time installing gutters with his brother Dennis in Rochester, MN. He was most proud of the construction work he did while living and working alongside his dad in Clear Lake, CA and Brawley, CA building sites for microscopic gold mines.

Lewis loved just about anything outdoors, riding horses and motorcycles, fishing, hunting, catching snapping turtles, jokes and westerns. Lewis rescued and spoiled many dogs in his life and they ate as good or better than him. If Lewis got a Dairy Queen shake so would his dogs. Charlie Wisenheimer was his most beloved dog, partner, and best friend as he would say. Lewis began riding horses before he was tall enough to get on them, but that never slowed him down; he went on to work with horses and actually broke some rather wild ones. At one point Lewis was nicknamed ‘Turtle’ because he loved to fish with turtles.

Lewis was a kindhearted soul that had many challenges in his young life including 2 brain aneurysms. If you needed a shirt he would give you the one off his back, if you needed a dollar he would give up his last dollar for you. He would also tell you that he couldn’t wait until tomorrow as he got better looking every day!

Lewis was preceded in death by his mother Janite Coatney Clark and his brother Greg Simmons. He is survived by his father Derrell (Sue) Clark of Barnes City, IA. His daughter Jaide Tolan Wulf, his grandchildren, Hope, Harmony, and Landon. Also surviving are his siblings. His sisters: Beth Hanson of Barnes City, IA and Tammy (Randy) Baysinger of Arnolds Park, IA; and three brothers: Dennis (Jane) Clark of Rochester, MN., Marvin (Shana) Clark of Barnes City, IA., and Mike (Jeanne) Clark of New Sharon, IA. He also leaves behind eleven nieces and nephews and eleven great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be designated to The Mayo Clinic Body Donation where Lewis’ body has been donated for educational learning. You can send donations to Warner Funeral Home or to his sister Tammy Baysinger to be forwarded to the Mayo Clinic.
