Lila Mae Pooler

Lila Mae Pooler, the daughter of Albert and Vena Hopfe Kramer, was born March 24, 1934 in Everly, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Everly and Spencer area, where she received her early education at country schools at Riverton #3 and later graduating from Spencer High School. Lila married Charles Pooler on November 8, 1953 in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, where she worked at several restaurants and business. Most notably to the public, she worked as a waitress at the Center Caf� in the North Mall for 15 years. Lila also worked at the Dollar General Store and the Dollar Tree Store in Spencer. For many years, she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren in addition to babysitting for the Steve and Holly McClain family. Lila passed away unexpectantly at her home in Spencer on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles on August 17, 1974. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Karla Pooler of Spencer and Debbie and her husband, Frank Phipps of Everly, IA; three grandchildren: Nicole, Michelle and Natasha; two great grandchildren: Chelsea and Emma; four brothers: Verlin & Florence Kramer of Fostoria, IA, Larry & Shirley Kramer of Spencer, Gary & Vicki Kramer of Iowa Falls, IA, Terry & Judy Kramer of Milford, IA; two sisters: Betty Menke of Spencer and Glenda and her husband, Don Peterson of Spencer; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 27 at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.
