Lillian Mae Meyer, the daughter of Wesley and Genevieve (Plaine) Louter, was born January 8, 1930 in Spencer, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Spencer area, where she received her education, graduating from Spencer High School in 1948. After her graduation, she lived and worked in Spencer for a few years.
Lillian married Donald Carl Meyer on October 3, 1951 in Everly, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer for 2 years, Everly for 14 years and later Sanborn, Iowa. In 1990, they retired and moved to Spencer. She was a longtime member of First Reformed Church in rural Everly. Lillian loved raising flowers, baking and spending time outdoors. She also enjoyed working for three years at the nursing home in Everly. After Donald’s death, she moved Waukee in 2003 and then moved to Winterset, Iowa in 2014, where she could be closer to her family.
She passed away at the Winterset Westbridge Care and Rehabilitation in Winterset, Iowa on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the age of 89. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald in 2002; an infant son; a son-in-law, Terry Swanson; two sisters and a great grandson.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Sandra Argetsinger and her husband, Tom of Adel, Iowa and Susan Swanson of Cedar Rapids, IA; three grandchildren: Stephanie, Timothy and Carl; three great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Louter of Winona, MN; two sisters-in-law: Sue Meyer Evans of Spencer, IA and Lucille Stravers of Pella, IA; other relatives and friends.
