Lillian Matilda Harjes

December 22, 1912 — August 7, 2010

Lillian Matilda Harjes, the daughter of Henry and Minnie (Westphalen) Klinker, was born December 22, 1912 in Hartley, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent moving around northwest Iowa, where she received her education. Lillian married Frances Frederick Lorenzen and to this union, three sons were born: Burdette (Bud), Darrel and Donald. Following their marriage, they lived in Moneta, IA, Montgomery, IA and finally Spirit Lake, IA, where they made their home. Frances passed away on December 7, 1956. Lillian married Harold Harjes in 1964 and they made their home in Storm Lake, IA. Following Harold's death, she moved to Spencer, IA in October of 2008. Lillian passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the age of 97. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; her son, Bud in May of 2010 and 2 granddaughters: Mary Kay Youde in 2007 and Susan Lorenzen in 1967. She is survived by her two sons: Darrel and Donnie Lorenzen; a daughter-in-law, Marge Lorenzen of Spencer; other relatives and friends.
