Linda Christine Taylor

A Memorial Fund has been set up in her name by the family.

         Linda Christine Taylor, the daughter of Claude and Herma (Leighter) Krieger was born on May 5, 1948 in Spencer, IA. She was raised on a farm near Terril, IA and received her early education in Terril, graduating from Terril High School in 1966. After graduation she moved to Des Moines, IA and attended business school. She then moved back to Northwest Iowa and went to work for Dr.’s Klein and Boeke Optometrists.

     On December 21, 1969, Linda married Dennis Taylor in Terril, IA. Dennis was in the service at the time and was stationed in several places, but mostly they lived in Holland. Following his service, they moved back to Spencer. She worked for Berkley Bedell on his congressional campaign. In 1976 they moved to Chicago, IL where Dennis attended the Illinois College of Optometry. While in Chicago, she did babysitting, mostly for the other students attending school. The couple then moved back to Spencer. Linda was a homemaker before going to work for Nolin Milling in the late 1980’s. She worked there for 30 years in the business office.

     Linda was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church and sang in the Church Choir for many years. She was involved in many clubs throughout her life. She loved walking and riding her bike. She enjoyed flowers and tending to her garden. For many years, every Saturday, Linda and her sister-in-law Jane would go to lunch and then spend the afternoon shopping. One of her favorite times of the year were the holiday’s. She would wait for her son, Aaron to come home from Ankeny, IA and with his help decorate their home. She always had a beautiful holiday table to share with family. We loved hearing her play Christmas Carol’s on the piano. She enjoyed  watching Hallmark and Lifetime movies in the evenings. Spending time with her family and friends, having coffee and going to lunch. Linda had a love for Golden Retrievers. She made the best potato salad ever! She loved driving a clean car and detailed them to perfection!  

     Linda passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Leona Larson, Raymond, Wayne and Bob Krieger and her brother-in-law Gary Taylor.

     Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dr. Dennis Taylor of Spencer, IA; her son, Aaron Taylor of Ankeny, IA; her brother, Larry Krieger of Green Valley, AZ; her sisters-in-law: Jane Nelson (Dave), Mary Krieger and Carrie Krieger all of Spencer, IA and Bev Taylor of Hartford, SD; her brother-in-law, Tim Taylor (Sherry) of Kansas City, MO; many nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
