Lindel Luverne Leonard

     Lindel (Linn) Luverne Leonard, was born May 28, 1933 to Samuel and Eva (Albert) Leonard in Primghar, IA.  After graduating from Primghar High School in 1951, he left for the Navy.  He spent 4 years as a SeaBee, 2 ½ years in the Phillipines and 1 ½ years in Korea.  When he returned, he married Elaine Augusta Link on June 2, 1957.

     Linn worked hard all of his life to provide for his family sometimes working two jobs at a time.  His jobs included running the roller for a road construction company, working for the City of Primghar, trucking, farming and working for O’Brien County.  He worked as a maintainer operator before moving into heavy equipment operator.  He also operated the dragline crane, a job which he was most proud of and accomplished at.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sutherland and  the Sutherland American Legion Post #152.

     Linn passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2022 at the age of 89. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; his brother, John Leonard; his brother-in-law, Lewis (Toby) Neiman, as well as a great grandchild, Zoey Becker.

     Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elaine of Sutherland; his four children: Lori (Brian) Magnuson of Sutherland, IA, Daniel (Sherry) Leonard of O’Fallon, MO, Ann (Mike) Metivier of Worthing, SD and Jean Leonard of Sutherland, IA; 10 grandchildren: Adam (Caitlin) Magnuson, Cody (Lisa) Magnuson, Landon Leonard, Alyssa Graczyk, Samuel Metivier, Marcus (Quinci Brewer), Austin Metivier, Margaret (Ryan) Riesop, Shawn (Molly) Becker and Shelby (Sam) McKay; 7 great grandchildren: Kaylie Johnson (Angel) , Megan (Josh) Panitzke, Braiden, Millie Metivier, Avery Riesop, Emma Riesop, Olivia Becker and Sawyer McKay; one great grandchild, Falynn Panitzke; two sisters: Betty Neiman of Park Rapids, MN and Judith (Tom) Lorenz of Spencer, IA; other nieces and nephews; relatives and many friends.

     He was well loved and will be deeply missed.  The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for their care and kindness.

SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Sutherland.
