Lloyd Earl Triggs, the son of George and Ruth Larson Triggs, was born December 8, 1925 in Laurens, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Laurens before moving to Gillett Grove, where he received his high school diploma in 1943. Following his schooling, he farmed with his dad until entering the military, serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1952.
Lloyd married Gertrude Meyer on November 25, 1954 near Everly. During their 37 years of married life, they farmed near Gillett Grove until Gertrude's passing in 1991. Lloyd married Nancy Fiedler in Spencer in 1992, continuing to farm until retiring and moving to Spencer in 1997.
He was an Elder of the First Christian Church in Spencer. He was also an officer and member of Evening Shade Lodge #312, the York and Scottish Rite, Order of Eastern Star, Abu Bekr Shrine, Glen Pedersen Post #1 - American Legion, Farm Bureau and Golden K Kiwanis all in Spencer. In his spare time, Lloyd especially enjoyed bowling, golfing, and traveling with his wife.
Lloyd passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Gertrude in 1991; 3 brothers: Chester, Clarence and Leon and one daughter, Janet Miller.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy; one son, David Triggs and his wife, Diane of Aurora, CO; one daughter, Joanne Triggs of Ankeny, IA; four grandchildren; one step-son, Bill Fiedler of Stillwater, MN; one step-daughter, Kim Hill of Colorado Springs, CO; 7 step-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Spencer.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin after 2:00p.m., Friday with the family present from 6-8:00p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.
There will be an Eastern Star Service conducted by Chapter 116 of Spencer at 5:30p.m., followed by a Masonic Service conducted by the Evening Shade Lodge #312 A.F. & A.M. both at the funeral home Friday evening.
