Lloyd G. Pettiecord

July 31, 1932 — December 21, 2016

Lloyd Glenmore Pettiecord, the son of Elva and Orpha (Offield) Pettiecord was born on July 31, 1932 on a farm near Rodman, IA. When Lloyd was four the family moved to Emmetsburg, IA., where he went to country school until the seventh grade, he then attended Emmetsburg public schools, where he graduated high school. Following graduation, he attended Emmetsburg Junior College. While there, he studied business. Lloyd entered into the military on August 19, 1953, serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. While in the military he served at Ft. Bliss in Texas. He received the National Defense and the Good Conduct Medals. He was honorably discharged June 16, 1955 in Des Moines, IA. After the military he returned to Emmetsburg, IA where he helped his father farm and then attended college in Mankato, MN, for one year. He lived in Minneapolis, MN, for a short time and then came back to Emmetsburg, IA, where he started working at Gamble's, then he was transferred to Algona, IA, and then to Spencer, IA, where he worked for 25 years. On June 17, 1961, Lloyd married Jean Ann Garrison in Estherville, IA. Following their marriage they lived in Spencer, IA. Lloyd worked for Gamble's and then for Lee Holt Motors, where he was the Sales Manager. He retired from Lee Holt Motors in 1997. During his retirement, the couple liked to travel, he was a member of the Spencer Rotary and a charter member of the Iowa Great Lakes Automobile Club. He liked listening to music, playing guitar and singing with family, fishing, collecting old cars, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Lloyd passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Spencer Hospital, with his family by his side, at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters: Mabel Lowe, Marjorie Jurries, Fernetta Jurries and Lena Krough and five brothers: Frank, Bill, John, Everett and Kenny. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jean Ann of Spencer, IA; his son, J.B. of Sioux City, IA; his sister, Alice Lambertz of Des Moines, IA; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; other relatives and several great friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be 10:30 A.M, Thursday, December 29, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer. There will be a lunch served in the BenTena Room at Grace Methodist Church following the service.

VISITATION
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Wednesday evening at the Warner Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his name.
