Lois Alice Kirksey, the daughter of Albert and Amanda Peters Wehde, was born January 16, 1925, in Hartley, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Everly, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Everly High School. She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for a short time.
Lois married Frank Drury on March 21, 1943, at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. Following their marriage, they farmed for many years north of Everly. She was a past member of Hope Lutheran Church in Everly where she served on the Church board counsel, taught Sunday school, Bible school and held different offices in the H.L.C.W. Lois belonged to the Women's Club and Farm Bureau Women. She loved to knit, play cards and travel. Frank passed away in 1991.
Lois married Richard Kirksey, Sr. on November 15, 1992, in Everly. They lived in Everly until 2000 when they moved to Spencer. They were members of Bethany Lutheran Church while living in Spencer and spent their summers at Lake Okoboji.
She passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa, on Friday, May 1, 2009, at the age of 84. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Frank Drury in 1991; and son-in-law, Jagdeesh Adhav.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard Kirksey, Sr. of Spencer; three daughters: Patricia Adhav of Des Moines, IA, Rebecca Kirksey and her husband, Richard, Jr. of Everly, IA, and Barbara Anderson of Houston, TX; 7 grandchildren: Tom and Jeremy Halverson, Benjamin and Meghan Kirksey and Sam, Jay and Andy Anderson; 2 sisters-in-law, Jo Block and her husband, Bob and Frances Lemmeroth of Dufur, OR; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.
