Lois Mae Jensen

Lois Mae Jensen, the daughter of Ed and Amelia Nissen Jensen, was born November 5, 1930, near Rossie, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Rossie Community, where she received her early education, graduating from Rossie Consolidated School in 1948. Following graduation, she received business training in Des Moines, Iowa, returning to Rossie to be with her parents and assist them. During this period, she was employed at Parks Motor Company of Spencer as a bookkeeper. On November 25, 1952, Lois was inducted into the Women's Air Force, where she served until March 30, 1955. In that period, she was assigned to the 567th Field Maintenance Squadron McCord AFB in Washington State. Between March of 1953 and November of 1953, she received further training at Keesler AFB in Mississippi. Within her period of service, Lois served on the WAF basketball team and traveled extensively in that service. Lois was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and received her Honorable Discharge in 1955. Following her discharge, Lois was employed at the Civilian Ordinance Ranier Depot in Tacoma, Washington from 1967, until her retirement on September 2, 1986. Her residence after retiring from the Air Force was Paulsbo, Washington. Lois was preceded in death by an infant brother; her parents and her sister, Wilma Jones Richards.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 1, 2008 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal.
