Lois Werts

Lois Lorene Werts, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Hanna was born September 24, 1926 in Spencer, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent on a farm in northwest Spencer. She attended Riverton #3 Country School, her family then sold their farm to Stub's Ranch Kitchen and they moved to Spencer where she graduated from Spencer High School in 1944. Following graduation, Lois worked for the National T Company for 5 years and then worked for Peoples Natural Gas Company, serving as a bookkeeper for 10 years. On December 15, 1951, Lois was united in marriage to Wayne Werts at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Following their marriage, Wayne and Lois lived in Spencer until 1953 when they moved to an acreage near Royal, Iowa. Wayne retired from farming in 1991 and they remained on the farm until 1993 when they moved to Spencer. Lois then moved into Riverview Terrace in October 2015. Lois was an active member of the Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, eating out, attending the widow's luncheons and being with friends and family. Lois passed away on May 5, 2016 at Riverview Terrace in Spencer at the age of 89. Left to cherish her memory are many relatives and friends.
