Lonny Wayne McKewon, the son of Richard Greer and Marjorie Alice Boyd McKewon, was born October 15, 1947, in Sioux City, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in McCook Lake, SD, where he attended McCook Lake Elementary and Jr. High and later graduated from Jefferson High School in Jefferson, SD, in 1965. Following graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1968.
Lonny married Carol Jean Bailey on April 18, 1969, in Sioux City, Iowa. Following their marriage, he worked for Prince Manufacturing, Dennis Willis Construction, Industrial Maintenance, Poulsen Construction and Dakota Mechanical until his health forced his retirement in 2004. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. His spare time was spent building his faith and enjoying sporting events, including the Packers, Yankees and his grandchildren's sporting events. Lonny also enjoyed cooking and being a caretaker for his family.
Lonny passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at the age of 60. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol of Spencer, IA; two daughters: Stephanie McKewon and Jennifer Kuehler, both of Spencer, IA; three grandchildren: Jesse, Madison and Macy Kuehler, all of Spencer, IA; one brother, Rick and his wife, Sylvia McKewon of Pleasanton, CA; one sister, Carole and her husband, Ralph Bell of Fremont, CA; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 10, 2008 at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.
