Lorene "Gunnie" Marie Brower, the daughter of Pearly and Abbie (Goyette) Morrow was born on October 12, 1922, in Royal, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Royal area where she attended school, graduating from Royal High School. She then attended Cosmetology school in Sioux City, Iowa.
Gunnie married Marvin "Dutch" on January 10, 1946, in Spencer, Iowa. They made their home in Arnolds Park and Spencer, where she owned and operated her own beauty salon.
Gunnie enjoyed dancing, singing around the piano bar at The New Inn, boating, reading, crafting, traveling south during winter months, and spending time with friends and family. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Catholic Daughters, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.
Gunnie passed away on Thursday, May 21, at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Ruby LeClair; one infant sister, Beulah; and three brothers, Leo, Dale, and Virgil.
Left to cherish her memory are two children, Susan (Larry) Holmen of Longmont, CO, and Lis Moreau of Spencer, IA; one grandchild, Scott Holmen; one sister, Cleona (Fred) Schmidt of Spencer, IA; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will take place 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.
