Loretta Alice Sweet

     Loretta Alice Sweet, the daughter of Arthur and Katherine Trost was born June 13, 1944 in Chicago, IL. Her childhood years were spent in the Chicago area, where she attended and graduated from Catholic Schools.

     Loretta married Sam Cardinale in 1966, they had 4 children, Karen, Samuel, Anthony, and Joseph. They later divorced. She worked as homemaker. She married Gerard Garbo in 1972, they had 2 children, Carissima and Gerard Jr. They moved to Baltimore, MD in 1976, and later divorced. She moved to Spencer, IA in 1990 where she worked at St. Luke’s Nursing Home until her retirement in 2018.

     Loretta enjoyed reading, garage sales, thrift stores, collecting bells and owls, cheering on her Chicago White Sox, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

     Loretta passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Spencer Hospital at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 children, Sam, and Anthony; her 2^nd husband, Gerard; and one brother, Arthur.

     Left to cherish her memory are her 4 children, Karen Cardinale of Chicago, Joseph Cardinale of Chicago, Carissima Collins of Omaha, NE, and Gerard Garbo Jr. of Omaha, NE; 2 grandchildren, Michael Dean of Omaha, and Sienna Collins of Omaha; 2 great-grandchildren, Malikai and Isaiah Dean; significant other, James Haisman of Spencer, IA; other relatives; and many friends.
