Lorraine Agnes Pullen, the daughter of William and Anna (Pohl) Bendlin, was born October 31, 1922 in Clay County, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Okoboji, IA area, where she received her education, graduating from Okoboji High School.
Lorraine married Robert Wayne Pullen on March 27, 1949 in Spencer, IA. Throughout their married life they farmed on the “home place” south of Spencer, where Robert was born. Lorraine worked as a homemaker, a bookkeeper, and helped at the senior center, before retiring at 80. Lorraine enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, canning, collecting rocks and bird watching. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.
She passed away peacefully at Longhouse Residence in Spencer on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the age 95. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert in 1995; 2 brothers, Virgil and Donald; 4 sisters, Audrey Gillum, Joyce Bendlin, Bernice Bowers and Edna Reynolds.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Brad (Debra) Pullen, Linda Schmidt and Randal (Candy) Pullen, all of Spencer, IA; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Shirley Brinkley and Madalyn Adams; 2 brothers, Ron (Judy) Bendlin and Marvin (Kathleen) Bendlin; one sister-in-law Loretta Bendlin; other relatives; and many friends.
