Lorrayne Emmie Westphalen

March 3, 1916 — May 25, 2010

Lorrayne Emmie Westphalen, the daughter of Jack and Anna (Wede) Trojahn, was born March 3, 1916 on a farm near Sutherland, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Primghar, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Primghar High School. Lorrayne married Wilbur Westphalen on April 8, 1936 in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm near Moneta and then by Royal, where she was a homemaker and raised her family. In 1962, after her husband passed away, Lorrayne moved into Royal. She went to work at Aalf's Manufacturing for 12 years and later Witco for 10 years, until her retirement. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Royal, where she was active in the LWML and was church treasurer. After the closing of Trinity Lutheran Church, she became a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal. She was an apartment manager and was active in the Dinner Date. Lorrayne loved to knit, read and sew throughout the years. She passed away at the Ruthven Care Center in Ruthven, Iowa on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur on February 3, 1962; one daughter, Darlene Johnson; one son, Duane Westphalen; son-in-law, Larry Johnson; daughter-in-law, Patricia; two brothers: Donald and Darrel Trojahn and one sister, Elva Lorenzon. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Marvin Westphalen of Sheldon, IA, Donna Steffen and her husband, Jerry of Emmetsburg, IA, Kenneth Westphalen and his wife, Lila of St. Louis, MO and Rick Westphalen and his wife, Joan of Rock Springs, WY; 26 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Bernice Trojahn of California; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal, Iowa.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, with the family from 5:00-7:00P.M., Thursday evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
