Louis Charles Wiemers, 90, went to live with his Heavenly Father on April 24, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Louis was born in Spencer, Iowa to Lot and Ragelina (Sonius) Wiemers in 1927. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1945. Louis was drafted into the Army in October, 1950 and served in Korea until October, 1952. After returning home, Louis started working with Fritz DeBoom building and remodeling homes. He started his own carpentry business in 1960 and became well known for his excellent craftsmanship and attention to details. Louis retired from the home building profession in 1995.
Louis married his wife of 62 years, Doris in February, 1954. Their marriage was blessed with two children: DeEtta and Carlin. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris in 2016; sister, Marilyn Quist; and brothers, Harold, Edward and Orlyn.
Louis is survived by his children: DeEtta Clark (Rod) and Carlin Wiemers (Joanne); grandchildren: Jami Helvick (Brian), Carl Starzl (Al), Nicholas Wiemers and Natalia Wiemers; great-grandchildren: Sarah Helvick, Jake Helvick, Evan Helvick, Reid Starzl and Tessa Starzl; sister, Ardell Durst; other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Iowa Great Lakes Lutheran School (IGLLS) or Mission Central.
The family of Louis Wiemers wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Pastor Paul Kaldahl, Dr. Glenn Preston and staff at Abben Cancer Clinic, Dr. John Hilsabeck, the staff of Riverview Assisted Living, the staff at Kindred Hospice and the staff at St. Luke Lutheran Nursing Home.

Funeral Services will be 11:00A.M., Saturday April 29, at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.
