Lois Perry (Warren) was born at home on June 5th, 1920, in rural Spencer, Iowa, to Florence and Charles Warren. She attended a rural country school for eight years and graduated from Spencer High School in 1937. Lois was a secretary for Investors Syndicate for a short time, then she was a secretary for AAA (Agricultural Adjustment Administration).
In 1941, Lois married Ivan Perry. To this marriage 3 children were born. Judith Perry Witt, Denise Perry Kerner, and Diana Sue Perry (deceased). Lois and Ivan were married 53 years. Lois’s husband wanted her to work at home taking care of the house and family. She was busy with many activities including sewing most of the children’s clothes, cooking, canning, decorating, and gardening. She loved to play games and was competitive. Even to the end, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and talking politics. Lois was an active lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and Eastern Star. She was Mother Advisor for International Order of Rainbow for Girls and volunteered many hours.
Lois loved to travel with her family. She traveled extensively in the United States and took many trips to Europe. Lois enjoyed spending countless hours with her great-grandchildren for the past 16 years. Painting pictures and the beautiful pieces of furniture Ivan built was her passion. These will be cherished by her family and passed down through the generations.
She passed at home surrounded by loved ones. Survivors include daughter Judith Perry Witt (Lee), Bloomington, IN, grandson Christopher Witt, Springboro, OH; daughter and caregiver Denise Perry Kerner, Independence, MO, grandson Matthew Kerner (Sarah), Springfield, MO, and great-grandsons Josiah and Samuel Kerner; granddaughter Sarah Kerner Hare (Douglas), Overland Park, KS, and great-grandchildren Garrett and Lauren Hare. She was preceded in death by husband Ivan Perry and daughter Diana Sue; parents Florence and Charles Warren; brothers William, Lester and Arthur; sister Carol Leslie. She is survived by sister Nora Biedenfeld; sisters-in-law Rowena Beck Arnold, Wynona Laws, and Waunetta Lehman; and many nieces and nephews.
We know she and Ivan are enjoying dancing together again. Eastern Star and graveside services will be at Riverside Cemetery, Spencer, Iowa, on Monday August 7th at 10:00 am.
