Lowell Marvin Mouw, age 86, of Spencer, died Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Liebe Care Center in Greene, Iowa.
Lowell Mouw, the son of Gerrit and Cora Mouw, was born June 11, 1927 in Orange City. After high school Lowell served in the Navy and then attended Northwestern College.
On April 16, 1948, he married Marcia Van Peursem at Orange City where he managed the Farmers Coop Oil Association for several years. They moved to Spencer in 1956. He worked for Spencer Construction Company as Office Manager and Accountant for 29 years. During that time he served on the Safety Committee of Master Builders of Iowa for six years. He was a partner in Clay Contractors, Inc. until he retired in 1993. He was an active member of Hope Reformed Church in Spencer, where he served as Elder, Deacon and various other committees including chairman of the building committee during the building of the church. He served on the Board of Hope Haven, was a member of the American Legion and an active member of the YMCA for many years. He also served as a volunteer at the local elementary school for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia; three sons: Donn and his wife Deborah of Alameda, California, Douglas of Portland, Oregon, Jeffrey and his wife Sandra of Greene, Iowa; six grandchildren: Kelly Fedderson and her husband, Rory; Sara O'Brien and her husband, Greg; David, Leah and Daniel Mouw; three great-grandchildren: Riley, Colter and Noah Fedderson; sister-in-law Harriet Mouw of Melvin and one brother-in-law Don Nieuwendorp of Sioux City and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Darlene Nieuwendorp and brother John Mouw.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.
