Luana Kading

Luana Kay Kading, the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy Faulstich Leek was born May 10, 1949 in Algona IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Algona area where she attended Bryant Elementary School and graduated from LuVerne Community School in LuVurne, IA. Luana married Doug Kading on August 8, 1970 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona, IA. After their marriage they lived in Seward, NE, and Fort Dodge, IA, before settling in Spencer, IA. She enjoyed singing, leading music, playing the guitar and volleyball. Luana worked as a homemaker, bank clerk, volleyball coach for 25 years, volleyball official, served 20 years as a conference specialist for Concordia Publishing House. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and a Camp Okoboji Auxiliary. She served one term as Chairman of the Leader Development Committee for the National LWML, was the Iowa West District LWML president from 1998-2002 and attended 18 LWML Conventions from 1975-2011. Luana passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 in Kissimmee, FL, at the age of 63. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Delores Bierstedt. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Doug of Spencer, IA; 2 children: Ryan (Tina) Kading of Kissimmee, FL and Philip (Kara) Kading of Racine, WI; 6 grandchildren: Liliana, Sofie, Charles, Oceana, Nash, and Reef Kading; one brother, Darwin Leek of Marshall, MN; other relatives and many friends. Memorials may be made to Iowa West District LWML, or Camp Okoboji, or First English Lutheran Church School Addition.
