Lucille Angeline Rogers was born October 16, 1911 in May City, Iowa. She was the second of seven children. She was raised on a farm near May City and graduated from Hartley High School. In her early adulthood she lived in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Los Angeles, California, Caracas, Venezuela, Houston, Texas, Nashville, Tennessee, and Sibley, Iowa. In 1954 she and her family settled down in Hartley, Iowa, where she lived for the remainder of her life. Lucille worked in the office at the Hartley Hospital for twenty years before she retired.
Lucille had one son, Gary Alan Robinson who, with his wife, Barbara, lives in West Des Moines, Iowa where they enjoy spending time with Barbara's two sons, Tyler and Brock Granzow, their wives, Kendi and Jennifer, and two grandchildren, Cole and Brooke. They look forward to the birth of a second grandson in February.
Lucille was married to Leslie Rogers of Hartley, Iowa in 1982 and enjoyed spending time with his daughter Marilyn, her husband Tom, and their children and grandchildren. They shared a love of family, friends, fishing, traveling, and socializing with their many friends. They both had a special place in their hearts for children and enjoyed entertaining whatever children came to visit them in their home. They looked forward to church events at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley and were active there. They participated in serving "meals on wheels" well into their senior years.
Lucille loved her family, company, scrabble games, fishing, crossword puzzles, going out to eat, and laughing at jokes. Some of her closest friends were decades younger than her. She had a special way of bonding with younger people. She had a unique capacity for unconditional love and enjoying life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Ida Snider, her husband, Leslie, her brothers Glen Snider of Spirit Lake, Arlo Snider of Hartley, and Luva Montgomery of Nashville, Tennessee.
