Luella Martha Reinke

Luella Martha Reinke, the daughter of Rudolph and Anna Werner Meehlhause was born August 15, 1917 in Hartley, IA. She grew up on a farm until 1924 when the family moved to Hartley, where she graduated high school. Luella was united in marriage to Raymond Reinke on August 29, 1938. They lived in Sioux City and Spencer before returning to Hartley in 1946. Luella was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Hartley, charter member of Miriam Circle, and IFWC Friday Club. She was employed at the Hartley Creamery. In 1981 she retired from the Hartley Public Library after 20 years as a librarian. Luella enjoyed 16 winters in sunny Arizona following retirement. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, oil painting and playing cards. On September 4th 1997, her and Raymond moved to Homestead Retirement Complex in Spirit Lake, IA. Luella passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, IA, at the age of 95. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Beverly (Donald) Glaser of White Bear Lake, MN; 2 granddaughters, Sonya Glaser of White Bear Lake, MN and Debra (Bryan) Lillehaugen of Arden Hills, MN; 2 great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Eric Lillehaugen of Arden Hills, MN; 3 sisters, Irene Voss of Sheldon, IA, Faye Groen of Hartley, IA, and Betty Rembe of Storm Lake, IA; special friends Carol and Frank Granston of Elkhorn, NE; many nieces and nephew; other relatives and many friends.
