Lyle LuVerne Williams, the son of Lloyd and Bessie Nelson Williams was born January 7, 1925 in Royal, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Webb, IA area where he attended school, graduating as Valedictorian from Garfield Webb High School in 1942.
Lyle married Betty Andersen at the Lutheran Parsonage in Storm Lake, IA on March 8, 1949. He enjoyed farming, baseball/softball games, playing cards, watching Hawkeye sports, and reading western novels, but his greatest joy was spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He also enjoyed spending winters in Arkansas. He was a member of the South Clay School board, Farm Bureau, and Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb, IA.
Lyle passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, IA, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Delbert Williams.
Left to cherish his memory are his Wife, Betty of Webb, IA; 6 children, Barbara (Don) Tice of Ames, IA, Ronald Williams of Nevada, IA, Nancy (Kenny) Wirth of Ames, IA, Carol (Sid) Renaud of Huxley, IA, Wayne Williams of Webb, IA, and Jerry (Cathy) Williams of Marathon, IA; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.
The family invites everyone for a time of food and fellowship after the graveside service at Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb.
SERVICES
Graveside services will take place 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 4, at Garfield Cemetery in Webb.
