Lynda Gail Nagel, the daughter of Henry and Sadena Nagel, was born on November 1, 1946, in Adrian, Minnesota. For most of her youth, she lived on a farm where she attended country school in Allendorf, Iowa, and later graduated from Little Rock High School. Following high school, she worked at Aalfs Manufacturing in Sheldon, Iowa.
Lynda married Gordon Schmidt on April 17, 1970, at Bethel Reformed Church in Ellsworth, Minnesota. During their life together, they lived in Sibley, Spirit Lake, Sheldon, and finally settled in Spencer, Iowa. While in Spencer, she operated a home-based day care, worked at Aalfs Manufacturing in Spencer, and retired from Hope Reformed Church after 21 years. Her free time was spent planning trips to see her children, sewing, quilting and volunteering at Many Hands Market.
Lynda lost her battle with Multiple Myeloma on December 27, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Lynda is survived by her husband, Gordon of Spencer, IA; daughter, Sheila (Brent) McAnally of Charlotte, NC; son, Shawn (Patty) Schmidt of Portland, OR; brother, Clarence (Linda) Nagel of Marathon, IA; and sister, Geraldine (LeRoy) Hassebroek of Little Rock, IA; and one granddaughter, Lillian.
