Madalyn June Adams, the daughter of William and Anna (Pohl) Bendlin, was born January 30, 1931 in Clay County, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Lake Center, Iowa area, where she received her education, graduating from High School.
Madalyn married Donald “Pete” Franklin Adams on December 18, 1949 at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Throughout their marriage, they lived in the communities of Spencer and Royal, where Pete was engaged in farming. Madalyn was also a waitress at the White Marlin. She also worked at Stylecraft for 12 years until her retirement in 2002 and later cooked at Longhouse. She was also a lifelong member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Madalyn also enjoyed gardening and quilting.
She passed away at the Cobble Creek Assisted Living Home in Spencer on Monday, May 2, 2022 at the age of 91. Madalyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald “Pete” in 1990; her son, Bryan; 6 sisters: Audrey Gillum, Joyce Bendlin, Bernice Bowers, Edna Reynolds, Lorraine Pullen & Shirley Brinkley and three brothers: Virgil, Donald, & Marvin Bendlin.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons: Doug (Kelly) Adams of Sergeant Bluff, IA and Rick (Karen) Adams of Spencer, IA; one daughter, Marcy (Jon) Fabris of Georgia; a brother, Lowell “Ron” Bendlin of St. Peter, MN; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
