Madeleine Dee Reuter

     Madeleine Dee Reuter, the daughter of Joseph and Carrie (Linscott) Hawksley, was born April 11, 1922 in Clinton, MA.  Her childhood years were spent in Massachusetts, where she received her education graduating from Lancaster, MA.

     Madeleine married Ivor George Reuter, Sr. on June 15, 1940 in Foxborough, MA.  They were happily married for 59 ½ years.  After their marriage, they lived in Massachusetts, where she raised her family. In 1959, they moved to Maine for a short time and then moved back to Massachusetts and in 1986, they moved to Virginia.  After retirement, they moved to Spencer, Iowa in 1987, where they have since made their home.  She was a longtime member of the Pentecostal Church.  Madeleine loved to read and do crafts and was an accomplished pianist and organist and played at both the church and the Senior Center along with various other churches.

     She passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the age of 96.  Madeleine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and three grandchildren.

     Left to cherish her memory are her children: Ivor (Norma) Reuter, Jr. of Spencer, Ruth Ann (Jim) Buffaloe of Pocatello, ID, Claire John of Norman, OK, David (Mary) Reuter of Altus, OK, Paul (Pam) Reuter of Concord, NC, Robert (Carol) Reuter of Attleboro, MA and Roberta Hall of Portland, OR; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; two brothers: Herbert Hawksley of Mansfield, MA and Edward (Cecile) Hawksley of Boca Raton, FL; one sister, Marilee Valois of Woonsocket, RI; other relatives and friends.
