Mae Charlotte Koch, the daughter of Theodore and Maude (Duval) Hansen, was born January 10, 1929 in Webster County, NE. Her childhood years were spent in Nebraska, where she received her early education, graduating from high school. She continued her education from the Nebraska Wesleyan University, where she received her degree in Music.
She married Richard Koch on November 22, 1950 in Red Cloud, NE. After their marriage, they lived in Nebraska and other communities for 12 to 15 years until moving to Spencer, Iowa, where she was a music instructor at Spencer Public Schools for 23 years until her retirement. They later moved to Fostoria in 1969. She was a member of Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Mae was also a member of the Clef Club and active in the Spencer Arts Council. She had resided at St. Luke Lutheran Home for the last 13 years.
Mae passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard in 1985; her brothers: Elton and Wayne and a sister Phyllis Vasqueze.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kristin Kunath, Karen Borchert, David Koch and Susan Koch; 7 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; her brother, Phil Hansen; other relatives and friends.
