Mahlon LeMoyne Klimes, the son of William Howard and Arlie Marie (Smith) Klimes, was born on April 18, 1951 in Pipestone, MN. Mahlon was raised and received his early education in Jasper, MN, where he graduated in 1969. Following high school, he attended the University of Minnesota for one year, majoring in music. On October 28, 1970, Mahlon entered into the military serving in the United States Air Force. After returning from the military, he lived in the Pipestone and Sioux Falls area, attending S.E. Community College in Sioux Falls, where he received a surgical tech certificate. He then worked at the Hospital in Pipestone and Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls. In the mid 1980's he moved to Jackson, MN and went to school and received an electronics certificate. He worked in the Estherville and Emmetsburg areas before moving to Spencer. In 2001, he retired due to poor health.
Mahlon married Susan Whitford on June 8, 2009 in Spencer. Mahlon worked on computers in his spare time, and liked to build electronic gadgets. He also liked to follow politics, especially the Occupy Wallstreet Movement.
Mahlon passed away at his home on January 18, 2013 at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and several aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan of Spencer; half brother, Ron Klimes and his wife, Marcia; two nieces and two nephews.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 25, 2013, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
