Mai Lovan, 70 years old of Spencer, IA, passed away on February 27, 2018 at his son’s home after battling an illness in the hospital. He was born on January 1, 1948, in Vientiane, Laos.

Mai was a free-spirited person who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, family members, and friends. He will be remembered for his loving and caring nature and his loyalty to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by all. Mai spent most of his time outside. He enjoyed gardening, taking walks, and enjoying the fresh air, but when the weather turned cold he enjoyed listening to music and watching TV, especially WWE wrestling.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Boun (Duangchai) Lovan of Spencer, Muan (Amanda) Lovan of Spencer, Huck Lovan of Spencer; Brothers-in-law: Vinh (Beng) Lovan of Spencer, Lo (Nga) Lovan of Des Moines; Six grandchildren: Sanhti, Chiaya, Jivahny, Vihncin, Jayden, and Jai.

Mai was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vien Lovan; his parents-in-law, Lone and Teu Lovan.

SERVICES

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.
