Marcene Gladys Briest

Marcene Gladys (Schultz) Briest died Sunday October 6, 2019 at her home in Spencer, Iowa.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday October 28, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church, Spencer, with visitation beginning at 9:45 at the church.

Born February 13, 1936 in Glencoe, MN, Marcene was one of ten children born to William and Martha (Dose) Schultz.  She graduated from Glencoe High School and was united in marriage to Clifford Briest on July 7, 1957.  During their 47-year union, they lived in El Paso, TX, New Richmond, WI, Stewart, Buffalo Lake, Albert Lea, Janesville, and Madelia, and Lamberton, MN, finally settling in Spencer, IA.  Cliff and Marcene raised three children, Dale, Diane and Dan.

While in Spencer, Marcene worked at CD Farm Service and Shopko.  She was active in her churches, and enjoyed singing in the choir and working on mission kits. 

Marcene is survived by her children Dale (Kriste), West Fargo, ND, Diane, Sioux Falls, SD, and Dan, Haymarket, VA, five grandchildren, Corey, Becca, Jonathan, Madison, and Katie, great-grandchildren Kylie and Connor, sister Doloris Roufs, Winsted, MN, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Cliff, her parents, and siblings Vernon, Marvin, Willard, Donald, Harley, Ruth, Joyce, and Carrie.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to your local food pantry. 

Warner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

SERVICES
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 28th at Faith Lutheran Church in Spencer.
