Margaret Helen Barber

Margaret Helen "Margie" Barber, the daughter of William and Dora Valder Moyer, was born August 18, 1908 in Tekamah, NE. She attended school in Tekamah and graduated from high school in 1925. She also attended the VanZant School of Business in Omaha, NE. Margie then worked as the deputy county clerk for Burt County in Nebraska. On December 7, 1930, Margie married Donald Gates Barber in Nebraska. Donald was part owner of the Megeath Stationery Co. in Omaha. They had three daughters: Jean, Suzanne and Bette. The family moved to Spencer, Iowa in 1947. Margie worked as a bookkeeper for Bjornstad Drug Store in Spencer. She was a member of TTT and the First Congregational Church. She enjoyed collecting antiques, decorating, gardening, flower arranging, reading, bicycling and visiting friends. Margie stayed in her own home until January 2002. At the age of 93, she moved to Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Margie passed away on August 24, 2007 at the Hilltop Care Center at the age of 99. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Don on October 13, 1990; one grandson, Eric Rhinehart; and one great-grandson, Thomas Boysen. She is survived by her three daughters: Jean Rhinehart and her husband, Richard of Sioux City, IA, Suzanne Rollinson of Roseville, CA and Bette Benit and her husband, Gordon of Okoboji, IA; 12 grandchildren: Scott Rhinehart, Roxanne Rhinehart Boysen, Linda Rhinehart, Michael Rollinson, Michelle Rollinson Babbitt, Martin Rollinson, Mark Rollinson, Susan Benit Clarity, Steven Benit, Sally Benit Morkovsky and Kathryn Benit Krout; 26 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
