Margaret Marie Eeten

Margaret Marie Eeten, the daughter of Lee and Nettie Syndergaard Dixon, was born December 20, 1920 in rural Royal, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in rural Clay County where she attended country school in Clay and Dickinson County. She then attended high school in Hartley. On November 24, 1939, Margaret married John Eeten at his parent's farm in Fostoria. Following their marriage, they farmed together in rural Clay County until purchasing the North Star Gas Station in Fostoria in 1963. For seven years John and Margaret owned and operated it together. From 1970 to 1984, Margaret worked at the Spencer Hospital in the dietary and housekeeping departments. In the fall of 1993, they moved to Spencer. Margaret was a member of the United Methodist Church of Fostoria where she served on church circles and she was in the Fostoria Birthday Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her garden of flowers. On July 28, 2007, Margaret passed away at Northshire Residence in Spencer at the age of 86. She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Robert in 2001; her brother, Ray Dixon; granddaughter, Alison (Perry) Thompson and grandson, Todd Eeten Perry. She is survived by her husband, John Eeten of Spencer; one daughter Betty and her husband, Mike Perry of Ankeny, IA; her grandsons: Troy Perry of Ankeny, IA and Ken Thompson and two great grandchildren, Tyler and Madison Thompson of Nevada, IA; her sister, Lois Dean of Mesa, AZ; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer, Iowa.
