Margie Mae Hallett

Margie Mae Hallett, the daughter of Aloisius and Emma (Salwalke) Nothem, was born April 30th 1928 in Remsen, IA. She attended Remsen schools until moving to Sioux City, IA where she attended school at the Cathedral. She enjoyed making memories with her three sisters and brother. Margie married her husband, Richard (Dick), on January 29, 1947 in Sioux City, IA at the Cathedral. Following their marriage Margie and Dick lived in Sioux City while Dick completed his education and Margie worked at Younkers. They enjoyed going dancing, playing cards and traveling the world with friends. A few years later they moved to Remsen, IA where they opened Dick's Cafe' while Dick started his insurance company business and they began to grow their family. After 12 years in Remsen they moved their family to Spencer, IA. Richard opened an insurance company and got into real estate, while Margie continued to raise their family of seven kids, she also helped out in the family business and volunteered at Sacred Heart Church. Later on Margie loved spending time with her grandchildren and playing slots in Vegas. Margie passed away on January 19, 2015 at the age of 86. She is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Ernest Schumacher; her one brother, Al Nothem; brother in law Danny Schumacher and eldest son, Michael Richard Hallett. Left to cherish in her memory are her husband, Richard (Dick) of Spencer, IA; her children: Patty (Russ) Valentine of Orlando, FL, Mark (Sue) Hallett of Spencer, IA, Craig (Nancy) Hallett of Shakopee, MN, Dick Jr. (Sheri) Hallett of Spencer, IA, Kris Vodraska (Jerry Illg) of Spencer, IA and Lisa (Brad) Baxter of Scottsdale, AZ; her siblings: Lavon Engel of Longmont, CO, Jerry Schumacher of Longmont, CO, Lois (Barry) Holtgrewe of Mount Pleasant, IA; her grandchildren: Makila (Ben) Lors, Brittney Hallett, Lindsey Hallett, Therese (Chip) Comery, Meghan (David) Wildstein, Emily (Dan) Lowe, Todd Hallett, Heidi (Charlie) Bohn, Chad (Lindsey) Hallett, Tyler Hallett, Tony Hallett, Corey (Amanda) Hallett, Maggi Vodraska, Molli Vodraska, Taylor Baxter and Kaitlyn Baxter; 17 great grandchildren and counting; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 2, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.

A public gathering with the family present will be held from 2 to 4:00 P.M., Sunday February 1, 2015 at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
