Marian Evelyn (Larson) Carlson was born Feb. 12, 1923 in Albert City, Iowa to Carl E. and Elsie (Peterson) Larson. The Larson family farmed north of Albert City and Marian attended and graduated from Albert City Schools. She met Bertil Carlson while they were on a train going to a Luther League convention in Rockford, Ill. They were married several years later at the Lutheran Church in Albert City, on Dec. 21, 1943. The Carlson's farmed in the Albert City area until 1960. Both Marian and Bertil worked for Superior / Witco Manufacturing in Albert City and Spencer for over 20 years. They moved to Spencer in 1968. After retirement from Witco, the Carlson's owned and operated the Spencer Cab for 10 years. Marian always enjoyed having special contact and helping their customers. The Carlson's moved to the Highlands in 1991, where they lived for over 18 years.
Marian was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church being an active member for many years. She had been a resident of St Luke Lutheran Home since 2003, where she was cared for by a kind and loving staff until her death Dec. 18, 2010, at the age of 87.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, LeRoy Larson, a granddaughter, Misty Carlson and her husband, Bertil Carlson. She is survived by a son, Larry Carlson, and his wife Sue, of Welcome, MN; a daughter, Gloria Tipton, and husband Tim, of Pearland, TX. Four grandchildren, Dusty Carlson, (Kim) and Carl B. Carlson, of Blackwell, OK, Tara Tipton, of Houston, TX and Timothy N. Tipton, of Pearland, TX, four great-grandchildren, sisters, Fern Holmen (Edner) of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Florence Johnson of Albert City, IA, numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 23, 2010, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
