Marian Helen Crane, the daughter of Peter and Myrtle (Johnson) Hagedorn, was born December 9, 1931, at home at Royal, Iowa.  She received her early education at a country school and graduated from Royal in 1949.  After her schooling, she worked at Fishing Tackle in Spencer as a bookkeeper until her marriage.

Marian married Carl Crane on February 2, 1951 in Royal, Iowa.  They made their home in Spencer, Iowa.  Carl and Marian were blessed with four children: Dianne, Jeanet, Clark and Ivan.  She was a homemaker first and foremost, but also the bookkeeper for Carl’s mechanic shop, a loving wife and mother.  Marian was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Dickens American Legion Auxiliary (54 years), Dickens Community Club and the Dickens Cemetery Group.

She and Carl enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing, which made for many family vacations and outings.  They valued their time and friends in Texas during 28 years of retirement.  Marian was gifted in sewing, making many quilts and embroidery pieces.  She especially had fun playing cards, gardening, cooking, genealogy, word puzzles and baseball.  A highlight was coffee time with friends and most important was her family.

Marian passed away at her home in Spencer on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at the age of 86.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Ruth Koenig and Lois Koenig.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Carl; two daughters: Dianne (Jerry) Simpson of Rochester, MN, Jeanet (Brian) Carlson of Linn Grove, IA; two sons: Clark (Jana) Crane of Amana, IA and Ivan (Dawn) Crane of Spencer; 10 grandchildren: J.
