Marian Jean Monthei

Marian Jean Monthei daughter of Frank and Hazel (Hasty) Scheuermann was born April 18, 1935 on her mothers' birthday. She attended country school and in 1953 graduated from Cooper High School, Cooper, IA. On August 22, 1954 she joined in marriage to Daniel Roy Monthei to this union was born Carla and Kelly. Marian worked at the Spencer Municipal Hospital for 14 years as an Admissions Clerk until she retired in 2000. Marian loved her family and kept them laughing with her divine sense of humor. She was always cooking for everyone and she was famous for her Sour Cream Chocolate Cake. Every spring she planted and tended her garden and always produced more than she could use. She would share her bounty with her family and friends. Marian passed away on April 10, 2010 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents,her husband, her sister Betty, her brothers Ralph, Darwin, Bob and Larry, and her grandchildren Keith and Jonathon. Left to cherish her memory are her children Carla Gates, Spencer, Kelly and Mary Monthei, Worthington, MN, her grandchildren Katie and Thomas Gates, Jean and Kristen Monthei, her great-grandchild Jacob Monthei, nephews, Steve and Audrey Day, Des Moines, IA, Joseph Day, Belton, TX, nieces, Kathy and Bruce Denny, Hartley, IA, Patty and Paul Buhr, Blue Springs, MO, Rita and Doug Washburn, Hornick, IA, Jane and Mike Thompson, Sioux City, IA, sisters, Esther Monthei, Jefferson, IA, Sharon Webb, Bagley, IA, brothers, Jerry Scheuermann, Bagley, IA, Vern Scheuermann, Des Moines, IA, and Gary Scheuermann, Jefferson, IA and many other family and friends.
