Mariana Wetherell, the daughter of William and Della Kruse Dubois, was born April 21, 1928 in Everly, Iowa. At the age of one, she moved with her parents to the family farm north of Peterson. This farm was known as the Kruse Leghorn Farm, which consisted of a hatchery and many laying hens. Mariana graduated from Peterson High School in 1946 where she was active in sports.
On December 29, 1946, she married Robert Leon Wetherell at her parents home. In 1952, Robert was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served for two years. The last year he was in the Army he was stationed in Germany where Mariana joined him.
In 1954, they resumed farming until 1970 when they purchased the Wetherell Sand and Gravel business from Robert's parents. In 1976, they purchased the Peterson Ready Mix from the U.B.C. Lumber Company. Mariana was a member of the First Congregational Church and Women's Fellowship and the Little Sioux Golf and Country Club. She enjoyed her family, playing cards, golfing, shopping, collecting Hummel's, gardening with Rob and cooking.
Mariana passed away on October 28, 2007 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 79. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rob on July 29, 2007; two brothers, Billy and Roger.
She is survived by her children: Laurie Rohde and her husband, Tom of Springfield, MO, Doug Wetherell and his wife, Debra of Linn Grove, IA and Ann Geisinger and her husband, Eric of Peterson, IA; 7 grandchildren: Heidi and her husband, Joe Gaeta, Michael and his wife, Loc Rohrbaugh, Megan and her husband, Nick Leu, Ross and Rachel Wetherell and Jason and Shena Geisinger; 3 great grandchildren: Braden Gaeta and Hannah and Tyler Rohrbaugh; sister-in-law, Sherry Dubois; a niece and nephew; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at the First Congregational Church in Peterson.
