Marilyn Brugman

Marilyn Brugman, the daughter of John and Lucille Blanchard Sones, was born July 14, 1931 in Cherokee, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the communities of Calumet, Cherokee and Sioux Rapids, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Sioux Rapids High School in 1949. Marilyn married Darrell Richard Brugman on June 19, 1949 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Webb, Iowa. She worked for South Clay School as a secretary for 12 years. She later worked as a clerk at the Webb Post Office, until her retirement in 1992. She was a current member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. While living in Webb, she had been an active member of the Webb United Methodist Church, serving as treasurer as well as circle leader for various offices. Marilyn was also a charter member of the Harmony Study Club. Recently she was a volunteer at the Spencer Hospital. Marilyn passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, Iowa on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her parents; John and Lucille Sones; one brother, Tom Sones; one sister, Beverly Bofenkamp; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Brennan Brugman and a great granddaughter, Jennifer Scanlon. She is survived by her husband, Darrell Brugman of Spencer; one son, Richard and his wife, Sarah Brugman of Emmetsburg, IA; two daughters and their husbands: Sheila and Julian Chestelson of Dallas Center, IA and Karla and Marcus Parker of Houston, TX; 6 grandchildren: Brian Chestelson and Amy Scanlon and her husband, Jon, and Meghan and Tony Brugman, Allison and Andrew Parker; three step grandchildren: Megan, Mitch and Matt Fandel; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer
