Marilyn Daloris Hemme, the daughter of Clair and Harriet (Heiter) Bollinger, was born on November 30, 1941, in Algona, IA. She grew up on a farm near Lone Rock, IA, where she received her early education. She then attended Sentral High School in Fenton, IA. Following graduation, she furthered her education at Emmetsburg Junior College, Mankato State College and finished her education at Drake University, earning a degree in Elementary Education. Marilyn taught school in Renwick, IA, Ringsted, IA and Fairmont, MN.
On June 17, 1978, Marilyn married Bill Hemme in Lone Rock, IA. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer where she was a part-time substitute teacher in Everly until 1980, when she joined Bill in his business, Spencer Avionics, as a secretary. The couple operated the business until their retirement in 1999. Marilyn was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was involved in church circles in the past. Over the years, she facilitated or did the "Christian Women Speaks" radio broadcast on Sunday mornings. Marilyn was also involved with the Spencer Community Theatre volunteering her time in the registration office, and a cast member in couple of plays. For the last 12 years, Marilyn and Bill enjoyed wintering in Arizona.
Marilyn passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014, at the Longhouse Residence at the age of 73. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Willis Bollinger.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bill of Spencer, IA; sister-in-law, Diane Bollinger and niece, Kerri Osterlund & family both of Carroll, IA; niece, Kim Bollinger Schmitz & family of Johnston, IA; sister-in-law, Sandra Soderquist and her husband, Bob of Springdale AR; nephew, Michael Soderquist and his wife, Maridan & family of Fayetteville, AR and nephew, Mark Soderquist and his wife, Shandy of Starkville, MS; other relatives and many, many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 17, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.
Memorials may be directed to the Spencer Hospital Hospice.
