Marilyn Jean Kruse

Marilyn Jean Kruse, the daughter of Adrian 'Tuffy' and Pearl (Chatfield) Hughes, was born July 6, 1936 in Spencer, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Spencer, where she received her education, graduating from Spencer High School in 1955. After high school, she attended nursing school. She enjoyed organizing class reunions for the class of 1955 until the late 1990's. Marilyn married Frank Howard Kruse on June 26, 1960 in Royal, Iowa. After their marriage, they farmed near the Royal/Sutherland areas for many years. In the 1980's, she obtained her real estate license and sold real estate for Jacobsen Real Estate. She sold Glass Apple Products and also worked as a telemarketer at Roytel. They retired and moved into Spencer in 2010. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and later Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. She passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, Iowa on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the age of 79. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank in 2012 and a sister, Lucille. Left to treasure her memory are two daughters: Kathleen and her husband, Dan Swanson of South St. Paul, MN and Sue and her husband, Roy Higgins of Oakley, CA; three sons: Stuart of Spirit Lake, IA, Ned of Sutherland, IA and Ben of Spencer, IA; one sister, Roxie (Ron) Beffa of Brentwood, CA; other relatives and many friends.
