Marion Jacob Roghair, the son of Jacob and Mary (Rozeboom) Roghair, was born October 20, 1930 in Maurice, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Sanborn, Iowa, where he started school until his family moved to a farm just outside of Hartley, where he continued his education. He entered the military in November of 1951 and served with the U.S. Air Force until his honorable discharge in November of 1955.
Marion married Shirley Buhrman on August 16, 1953 in Royal, Iowa. After their marriage, they moved to a farm west of Royal, where they raised their family and farmed for many years. He was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Royal for many years, until they moved to Spencer in 1995 and attended the First English Lutheran Church, where he continued to be an active member until the time of his death. Farming was his passion and he loved to see the fruits of his labor every fall. Over the years he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, bowling, participating in dartball league, spending time with his family at church and at the lakes and enjoyed attending many of his grandchildren’s games and activities.
He passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the age of 91. Marion was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: John and Ronald Roghair and Jacob Roghair in infancy.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley of Spencer; two sons and their wives: Rick and Vickie Roghair of Hartley and Randy and Alice Roghair of Royal, IA ; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; two brothers: William and Shirley Roghair of Mountain Lake, MN and Glen and Janice Roghair of Spencer, IA; other relatives and many friends.
