Marion Louise Raveling, the daughter of Henry and Louise (Brackman) Young, was born April 17, 1918, in Spencer, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Greenville, Iowa, where she attended school and graduated from Greenville High School.
On March 30, 1941, Marion was united in marriage to Jacob Raveling in Greenville. Following their marriage, they farmed near Peterson and then near Linn Grove for a short time. In 1946, they bought a farm near Rossie. Together the couple farmed and raised their two children: Dennis and Keith.
Following their retirement, Marion and Jacob moved from the farm to a lake house in Okoboji where they lived for several years before moving to Spencer.
Marion was a member of the Friends Church in Greenville. She was active in many church organizations and church functions. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cooking, but most of all she loved her family and friends.
On September 30, 2008, Marion passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jacob Raveling; one son, Keith Raveling; and one brother, Glen Young.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Dennis Raveling of Clarksville, TN; two granddaughters, Pam Pates of Owatonna, MN and Kathy Raveling of Marshalltown, MN; two grandsons: Jeff Raveling of Nashville, TN, and Rob Raveling of Templeton, IA; nine great-grandchildren: Derek Pates, Matthew Pates, Jared Raveling, Lacey Raveling, Jonathan Raveling, Aaron Raveling, Jacob Whitcomb, Erykah Raveling, and Evan Raveling; one great-great-grandson, Jayden Pates; one brother Kenny Young of Flint, MI; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be at 1:30p.m., Friday, October 3, 2008 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
