Marjorie Ann Dalen

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we morn the passing of Marjorie Ann Schacherer Dalen, of Spencer, Iowa on August 20, 2020, at the age of 89.  She was born on November 20, 1930 near Ladysmith, WI.  Marge passed suddenly after contracting COVID-19.  She will be lovingly remembered by sisters Obby Brobst and Darlene Lair.  Children Diane (Jim) Darr, (Jane) Dalen, Susan (Chris) Wilson, Tom (Julie) Dalen and Gordon Dalen.  20 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 26 years, Harold Dalen; daughter Shelley; son Jerry; grandson Ben; siblings Marion, Jane, Jerry; and parents Hannah and Ralph Schacherer.

     Her most current residence was Riverview Terrace, she will be deeply missed by her friends and the staff.

     Marge and Harold raised their family in Spencer, Iowa.  She worked for Bell Telephone/AT&T for 37 years.  In her retirement, Marge moved to Glendale, Arizona.  She was an active member of the Catholic Church where she served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister.  She dedicated her retirement to volunteering in her community with St. Vincent de Paul, Andre House of Arizona, and Raising Special Kids.

     Marge was a devoted, selfless, and hard-working mother and grandmother.  She always had a camera in her hand, candidly capturing the memories of her family.  Loved ones will remember Marge’s contagious laugh, generous spirit, and relentless sweet tooth.
