Marjorie Becket

March 27, 1916 — June 23, 2014

Marjorie Elizabeth Becket, age 98, passed away on June 23, 2014 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a life-long resident of Spencer, and had moved recently to be near her daughter and family in Louisiana. Marge was born on March 27, 1916 in Carroll, Iowa to Charles Blaine Hobbs and Anna Messenger Hobbs. The family moved to Spencer shortly after and Marge attended Spencer schools throughout. She married Miles C. Becket on November 29, 1936. Two children were born to the marriage. She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her daughter Ann (husband D avid), her son Charles (wife Patty), 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Marge was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was also active in the Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and was especially proud of her roses. She was an avid bridge player and loved read. Marge lived a full, independent life and had many interests.
SERVICES
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

There will be no visitation.
MUSIC
INTERMENT
Riverside Cemetery Spencer, Iowa There will be a lunch and time of fellowship at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer immediately following the graveside services.
