Marjorie Jean Scharnberg

Marjorie Jean Scharnberg, the daughter of John "Bob" and Dollie (Lorenzon) Thorne, was born January 7, 1928 in Moneta, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Moneta, IA, where she received her education, graduating from Moneta High School. Marge married Darrel Scharnberg on February 2, 1947 at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Following their marriage, they continued to farm in the Everly area until 1988, when they moved to Spencer. Throughout her life, Marge raised her family and worked for a period of time at Standard Printing in Spencer. She always enjoyed Moneta reunions. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer, where she was active with the ladies guild, was an officer of the AAL and a member of the church choir. She passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the age of 89. Marge was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrel in 2012 and a brother, Herbert Thorne. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kenneth Scharnberg and his wife, Nancy of Spencer, Darlene Kelso of Yuma, AZ, Paul Scharnberg of Milford, IA and Larry Scharnberg of Springfield, MO; four grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Helen of Texas; two brothers: Bernard Thorne of Oklahoma and Harold "Hap" Thorne of Hartley, IA; other relatives and many friends.
