Marjorie Lou Joines

Marjorie is the mother of Julie Thiesen of Terril and the late Jolene Bates of Ruthven. Marjorie Lou Joines, the daughter of Harold and Lula Petersen Drake, was born October 25, 1918, at Sutherland, Iowa. She attended and graduated from the Larrabee consolidated school in 1936. She worked in an office in Cherokee before moving to Spencer, Iowa. On January 26, 1946, Marjorie married Eldred Joines at her parents' home in Spencer. They farmed in the Sutherland and Moneta areas before moving to a farm northeast of Spencer in 1955. They lived there until moving into Spencer in 1977. Marjorie has been a resident of St. Luke's Nursing Home in Spencer for the past six years. She is a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. Marjorie passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by per parents; her husband, Eldred; daughter Jolene Bates; brothers: Weymond and Harold Drake; sister-in-law, Audrey Drake; and niece, Angie Drake-Garner. Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Julie Thiesen of Terril, IA; son-in-law, Junior Bates of Ruthven, IA; grandchildren: Amy Ness and husband, Steve of Terril, IA, Kevin Bates of Ruthven, IA, Tami Eaton and husband Red of Ruthven, IA; great-grandchildren: Kylie and Leah Ness of Terril, IA, and Brent and Kelsi Eaton of Ruthven, IA; brother Bob Drake and wife, Norma of Spencer, IA; sister-in-law, Carol Drake of Spencer, IA, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin Noon Monday with the family present from 5 to 7:00 P.M., Monday Evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

INTERMENT
Riverside Cemetery Spencer, Iowa In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established by the family.
